North America has 10% more of what than Africa?

This is the question in Fly FM’s Pagi Show right now.


Hmm, the questions seem to get tougher and tougher. Now it covers not just kids, but countries! How on earth do we listeners find an answer to such a gargantuan question? My guess is that the prize would easily snowball to the thousand mark.


To answer the question, we first have to understand what is North America and what is Africa. I’m quite sure most of you wouldn’t know much about North America. No worries, we always have Wikipedia, the still legal, still functional, still respected, still neutral cousin of WikiLeaks.


Did you know that there are actually 23 countries in North America? Did I hear a “wow” or maybe “wah”(malaysian style).

North America

As can be seen by the eyes from outer space, that’s North America. Pretty big. Not surprising as it’s a subcontinent.

Let’s compare it with Africa, which lies almost directly opposite the globe.

Africa

Africa is equally big, if not bigger. This is a whole continent we’re talking about.

So, the question here is of continental proportion! I wonder what’s the next question after this. Astronomy or planetary maybe?! Never mind if you can’t answer the question, at least you gained some geography knowledge.


Back to the question. Take a look at the wrong answers.

Wrong Answers:

• Land
• Taller people
• Golf courses
• Elephants
• Lakes
• Caucasian people
• Trees (I thought of this one too)
• Paper bags
• Local people
• Highly educated people
• Cabbies

Most of these are wild guesses. I think I’ll just wait until there’s a narrowing down of the scope. Make sure you tune in everyday lest you don’t want to know some clues. The answer may be very specific, like the previous one.
