Of fraud and Scam

scam mail 1
Beware people. Fraud emails are circulating like mad cow disease in a cow farm, and I’m sure at one point or another you’ve receive at least one fraud email saying that you won the lottery and what not.
Lately, my email inbox detected an up rise of fraud activity. Some were allegedly from banks in the UK while some others were alleged lottery winnings.

Simply ridiculous. And it’s kinda obvious that it’s fake. I mean, money wouldn’t just drop down from the sky, or grow on trees, maybe except the (a paid to click service) tree. En passant, this is not a scam, just so you don’t get confused.

Still, out of so many people in the world, there are bound to be some gullible ones out there. So beware.
Below are some of the scam emails in my junk box. Enjoy.

This one is veritably comical. It’s offering compensation for scam victims. Get the irony and contradiction?

Even small things like surfing the internet can be used as a seemingly “valid” reason for them to give you an award. Bravo! Gee, these guys are really creative. But they should put their creativity to better use. Go write a story book or something, or maybe a book on a collection of scams.

Wow, look at that! There’s even a confidentiality notice, just for the sake of professionalism. This guys must be quite serious in their jobs too.
If you browse through the above, you would notice some similarities or what they would call a… something. Dang, I’m having a mental block again. Anyway, they would ask for your information like your name, e-mail address, contact number and so on. And I guess like all other scams out there, you would be asked to deposit some money in some bank. By the time you know it, you’ve been scammed. The rest, as they say, is a bitter lesson… err history.
I’m wondering how did they get my email address. Maybe I should be more surreptitious, more stealthy, especially in the cyber world. Having said that, this may be my last post…not. Perhaps I should be on stealth mode in Facebook too. You know, just in case. Wikileaks may have leaked many secret information, but have you ever gave a thought on how much information you’re leaking about yourself via the great creations called the world wide web and social networks?
Think about it…
Be safe and stealthy.
